ROSARY ALTAR SOCIETY
Message from Filomena Mohr,
President, Rosary Altar Society St. Mary's Rosary-Altar Society is one of the oldest, and at one time the largest, of the societies associated with St. Mary, Help of Christians Church. The heart of the society and the goal of its members is to spread devotion to The Blessed Virgin Mary, especially by praying the rosary. Mary is the Spiritual Mother of all and the person to whom we can turn for help in times of adversity and whom we can also thank when our prayers are answered. She is a loving mother who only wants the best for us, her children, and she is especially powerful because she, above all others, can intercede for us with her Son, Jesus. To promote this devotion to our Lady the Rosary Society has always sponsored the May Crowning and, in recent years, has participated in the National Rosary Rally which is held in October to honor Our Lady of Fatima. Another Rosary Society activity is the annual Communion Breakfast . The speaker at this event usually discusses Mary, which deepens our love for our mother in Heaven. An annual Christmas party is another event which is held, mostly for the companionship being with friends entails, and Rosarians leave with the feelings of the spirit of Christmas. Giving to those less fortunate is also a part of the Christmas spirit and Rosarians fulfill this by bringing gloves, hats and scarves for needy children to the party, which are distributed to the poor.
Unfortunately, there is always a need for money in our parish, and all parishes, if the church wishes to fulfill its mission. The Rosary Society has always attempted to help out in this area, too. In the past the Society has conducted Tricky Trays, Shop 'till You Drop evenings, flea markets, Fish & Chips dinners, trips to Atlantic City, raffles and even Bingo Nights. Recently these activities have diminished because as the Rosarians age their abilities decline and there are no younger women stepping forward to take their place. The last few events were successful because parishoners stepped forward to help, and for that Rosarians are grateful. |

ROSARY SOCIETY NEWS
❤❤❤❤ ROSARY ALTAR SOCIETY St. Mary’s Rosary Society is one of the oldest organizations existing in our parish. For over fifty years we have furthered our goals - to promote devotion to our Blessed Mother by encouraging praying the Rosary and to support our parish financially by conducting many fundraisers. However , our membership is greatly diminished due to the death of many of our members and the restrictions of old age, which prevents many from participating as they once did. This has forced us to abandon many of our activities. We still promote devotion to the Blessed Mother by conducting our public square Rosary Rally in October and our pro-life Rosary Rally in January. Unfortunately we no longer have our Communion Breakfast due to lack of participants and the May Crowning is now a parish activity. Also, it has become impossible to conduct our fundraising activities due to the aforementioned age restrictions which prevents our members from participating. In the past we held Tricky Trays, Shop’Till You Drops, flea markets and trips to Atlantic City. Our annual Fish and Chips dinner is now a parish activity. We were always busy working for our parish and we are confident that our new parish organizations will pick up where we have left off. We have certainly left our mark and those of us who are able are still working to promote our goals of promoting devotion to the Blessed Mother and helping our parish financially as best as we can. We are St. Mary’s strong! ❤❤❤❤ |
PRAYING THE ROSARY St. Mary’s Rosary Society is once again asking all parishioners to join us in a Public Square Rosary Rally in front of our church (inside if the weather is inclement ) on Saturday, October 15 at 12:00 noon. Our country is in great need of public prayer, repentance and conversion. What better way is there to ask for this blessing than to pray the Rosary? We can pray at home but public prayer is much more effective and may influence those who see our prayer to join us and perhaps mend their ways. |
